Old haunt/Newish life…..

Filed under: Daily blurb, Life of a Londoner, Pre-London — villiageidioit @ 11:59 pm

Something odd happened during the week. Went into work for the new consultancy on friday. I am meant to start in 2 weeks but its good to go in to see the challenges I be facing. It will be tough, but not impossible! I will put a few things I learnt from the Guardian to the test! And if you are media monitor working for the Guardian, It was a day of holiday with down time for the department and I already handed in my resignation letter to my boss, so there!!

Went to Brooke’s b’day drink after work caught up with most of the people there.

Look look look….. been missing for a while, here are the photos!!!

Most of the old crew are there, there were also a few new people from the hostel. This lot dun seen to talk alot, but than again I wasn’t really talking much to ppl outside the hostel when I was living at Astor, can’t really blame them in that case!! Me and K-Bo also get on pretty well tonight. Maybe time does wash everything away afterall…..

Anyway the last couple of days been busy with New job, and writing material for my standup. I hardly have any time for blogging, holiday or cleaning up my room. (maybe I should take a picture) I am thinking I got a bit too many things going at the moment. Well at least I found sometime over the weekend to buy a new suit. *Sigh* I am going to be a consultant and the life of going all over the place has now begin!!!

Hong Kong is my transist stop. Although I left moved to Australia 16 years ago, my extended families are here. Namely my cousin Ben, to me hes my long lost brother.

So here I am in HK, relaxing, swimming, shopping for essentials for the trip and on top doing quite a bit of cycling. Believe it or not I picked up 10 designer clothing items on around AUD$200 with a REAL Armani suits, Paul Smith shirts and Mont Blanc belt. Now thats a reall bargain. Of course also picked up this bad boy on my way:

ASUS G1S

Yes, Its ASUS G1S. I might be in London but I am still a geek at heart!! :-)

As for swimming, its perfect in HK, everyday is around 33 degrees with people dying from heat stroke. Matter of fact the weather reminded me that over the last 16 years I have never been backed in Hong Kong in the middle of summer. From the feels of things Winter months is still the best time to visit Hong Kong.

Thanks to this man, cycling profile in Hong Kong has never been bigger. The government focked out millions in building a velodrome thanks to him winning a world track cycling championship. Now every weekend we see people riding along the long stretch of sideroad heading towards Dun Chung/Airports. I got to admit I never really try road cycling before, its fun and much harder than it looks. The gap between good and pro might be small but its enough to separate between the men and boys.

*End of cycling piece*

Back to the poodle, well my cousin’s girfriend poodle anyway.

poodle2.jpg

Hes only 6 months old and still very much a pup. Toilet trained and never ever barks. Don’t under-estimate this fellow, hes a weapon of “mass seduction”. (term Shamelessly stolen from Sam in The City on SMH) Fellows, wanted girls come up to you and chat you up? Wanted to catch the attendtion of the cutie around the corner? Fucked the BMW, Porsche or the TT and get a freaking poodle! I never seem so many girls come up and feel the urge to play with this little fellow. So everyone grab a poodle and watch the pheromone count goes up!!

Well thats pretty much it with HK, bought so much stuff that I am 13kg over the limit even on the freaking business class 30kg limit. So what did I do? Took out around 13kg worth of crap and stuff them into my hand carry bags instead!

Farewell HK, I have a feeling that over the next 2 year I will be backhere very often…….

D-Day 23th July 2007

All the boys dropped by the night before and just to say goodbye for the final time. All of them hung around giving crappt TVBJ Chinese drama Ad-hoc English dupping, I swear you lot should get into comedy writing at some stage.

Monday morning finally here, the day that I been planning all those months ago finally came. Packed up my backpack and suitcase and getting ready to leave. My brother Micheal was down from the flu so he didn’t came out.

We got to the airport around 8:30p.m. This time around they handed me the boarding pass straight after check-in at staff travel counter, Awesome! Dad also parked his car in the carpark and came to the terminal, which is contrary of his usual ”dump and leave” to avoid making Macquarie bank any richer.

It was a emotional time to me, sending out all the goodbye SMS to everyone. Having watched them all came back one last time makes me cried. I am leaving everything behind, friends and family and the lot. People that I knew since school, I am leaving them all behind. I gotta admit I wasn’t overwhelm until I am at the airport, before that life just ticked on. ”Yep, got to do more Essbase training; Yep, got to make sure Clearing House hand over; Yep, got to clean my desk.” It never really daunted on me the impact of the decision I made all those months ago. It really didn’t daunted on me at all that its all happening.

Even its sad that knowing I am leaving good people behind, I know I have to do this! As much as I like to stay with these great people forever, life’s little message  keep ringing in my ears:

Time moves on, what is here now will change and won’t be here forever. Parents will grow old, Siblings will grow up, friends grow up and move forward. We needed to look and move forward, sometime taking a path that we might not feel comfortable taking. You only find out the path is wrong until you walked down it!!!

So here it is, my leap of faith. Turning my back on everything I know so well and saying goodbye to all those I loved so dearly and stepping forward into the unknown. So the journey begins…….

Another great turnout at Suminoya. So many animals are slaughter for my incredible. Whats more incredible is that Denis is actually cappable of eating quickly if you pace him against the clock. Matter of fact I have never seem him eat so quick and regimental in his approach in his eating. It was a great night and great turnout, probably not the best of social occasion but one thing for sure, everyone totally stuff themselves. Afterwards a quick drink for those at Bar333 for one last time.

My farewell part one… Blue Mountains

One for the Faithful

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=8470&l=d0f78&id=544948593

This one for the faithful and the special few.

With 4 hour of sleep from pervious night of packing, really I shouldn’t be going for a walk in the mountains, but heck we shouldn’y jay-walk either so there. Set out with Justin, Jim, Juls and myself. Bart and Angela was supposed to join us but their Holden Astra blew up on them on the way. Lucky they come across a Holden service centre 400 metres down the road.  Bart and Angela join us after the walk but boy wasn’t it a great walk! Those that didn’t come really missed out! Also Jim and Jus really needed to pike those smokes goddamit. The day was well spent and the trip to mountain was well worth it, only negative was never having the flowerpot scons!!

Qantas Farewell

Something I been wanting to do for a while.

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=6844&l=e4fe5&id=544948593

So it finally curtains for me with Qantas.

The day began great, Steve organise a full meeting room for my farewell morning tea. I never expected such a great turnout! This means one thing: I failed miserably as an a-hole!! Thanks must goes to Steve for organising the morning tea, Gary Wilson for picking such a unique tie, Noella for organising the lunch and Darryn for organising the drinks at AV8.

Well the stories actually goes that we are meant to goto Lowenbrau, but after 4 drinks from the day I was plastered and going nowhere beyong good old AV8 down at Mascot. Poor old Annabelle actually went to Lowenbrau just to look for us. All I can say is that Mr Quantick is a real trooper, he was still around when most of the softer type has to roll home to tend their cabbage patches so next time think about that before bagging him out.

Three and a half years is quite a bit with a company. I have fun with the people, so many people that I been working with for the last 3 years, so many of them I called my friends and mentors. When I typed out my farewell email, I counted almost 200 people that I have to say goodbye too, many of them I dealt with but yet never really have a chance to say goodbye. All in all its been great knowing you all, you all like family to me and its sad to leave you all, but now you can come to London and theres someone to visit! And who knows, our path might cross again sometime in the future.
