Banana Cabaret and other stuff

Yes! I am still alive, wished I have time to update but I don’t at the moment. Wonder if I bought an Iphone can I actually write my wordpress blog from there.

  • Did a new act comp last monday and came fourth! I was pretty happy about the gig but like all “New Act competition” its about best dress and who brought the most friends. Appreciated that Phil, Max and Trudi turned up to support me.
  • Went to Banana Cabaret on Saturday to watch Shane’s 5 min open slot. The night was awesome and I have to say Banana Cabaret is the best gig in town! I will do a more detial writeup about it at some stage but the main room looks like a round theatre with a overhang balcony on the second level. Very unique for a comedy venue and the quality of acts was well worth the £16 I spent! Shane storm the night and looks like alot of fun playing the night, definitely one of the highest club I like to play on my comedy ”wishlist”.
  • Tarkan came around on sunday and helped me moved alot of stuff over from the old flat to the new flat. I am not sure am I ready for the change: The new flat has a nice big room which is bigger than mine at the moment, but it is also shared by 5 other people with only 2 bathroom and a kitchen thats smaller than my current flat. Whats more there is no cleaner for the flat and I don’t think there is a cleaning schedule so the common area such as kitchen and bathroom looks a bit dirty. I will have to spent my free time scrubbing the place. What I did find weird was there is not hot water in the flat and I discovered the reason: The boiler was turned off for some reason. I think this might be a regime for the household on saving gas bill during summer period. I understood where they are coming from but this will posted a little problem for me as I washed up with hot water alot – Its easier to get rid of the oil and more hygenic. With a small kitchen also means that I will have to “hog” the whole kitchen whenever I cooked – it usually takes me 2 hours from preparing the meal to washing up. I think I might have to change my habit a little just to cater to the household. Did I make a mistake of not shopping around and jumping too soon? God knows! Is a flat in hand better than 2 in the London bush?

I have way too many clothes at the moment. I managed to fill a garment rack, a wardrob and 2 chest of drawer of clothes. I got enough clean underwear to last me 2+ week without washing and enough socks last me over a month! And I am talking if I am swapping for a new one on a daily basis!!!

  • Other stuff are fine. Works good at the moment: client’s project is moving to an important phase and they are happy with my work. Lots of thing to do and got an important gig tommorrow night. Still have to worry about changing all the mail over to the new place and book for holiday and do comedy. So much things are happening!

Otherwise, things are good! Will be better if £1mill dropped on my lap but how often does that happened?

Unforseen changes

Are no where as good as a holiday!! I will take a holiday any day!

I was told by my landlady on Monday that I have to moved out of my house! Blast! Last thing I needed is to look for a new place to live! She did offer me one of the studios on the upper floor, but really they are not much bigger than my room if that! Funniest thing following her text she send us another text saying pest controller is trying to get rid of vermins upstair! Great advertisment!

Last time I look for a flat it took me like 6 weeks to find a place. I must admit my current place really serves me year and 4 months or so. Come to think of it its a bit of a bargain when considering the flat was shared by 4 people and now its only share between me and my flatmate.

Rather than spending countless weekend and weeknights looking for a place and trying to convince people I am good flatmate, I accepted the first place that I came across and its a nice enough place. Its a 6 bed room place shared between 5 others with a kitchen and a lounge. It will be a bit crammed in terms of sharing with 5 others but I did live in a hostel before hand. At least the bedroom look like its large enough to hold the shits I accumlated!

At least I am glad that it all worked out and I can moved on  focusing my energy on other things. Speaking of which I signed myself up for yet another standup comedy comp Tuesday week. This time it should be interesting as this is a comp for acts gone no more than 18 months ! Should be alright.

Now, working, gigging and packing my life up in boxes for the move……

Joy of seeing greenshoots…..

Well look at that! Was running around with a shotgun-load of new material and endup blasting at nothing. Wrote a more new material since last weekend and ran it on bank holiday monday (It was public holiday here in London) and it was quite well recieved, especially considering I wrote the stuff 2 hours before the gig on Monday!

Polished the new stuff a bit more during the week and ran them at the Comedy Brewhouse on Friday night and ended up absolutely storming the night with it! It feels good storming show with new material and the promoter was surprised that all of this material is new material!

Saturday night was Anthea’s 30th b’day , it was meant to be a fancy dress party with a 80s pop/rock/cabaret feel. I think I ended up dressing as somebody that looks more like an amish pastor. Its good to see the comedy friends without having to worry about materials, routines and punchlines. Damn, I hardly ever go out now days.

For someone who is 30th Anthea sure don’t act it!

Anyway, summer is back and London is now filled with Sunshine for a change and no I am tryin to workout on my tan.

Also my flatmate is moving out so I might be looking for a new flatmate.

Actually my Landlady is thinking of converting the room into a studio, so I might end up moving out! Darn!!
